Move money when it suits you

We’ve made transferring money on the app really easy. Open it up, choose the accounts you want to move money between, the amount and let us take care of the rest.

Before you can pay other people using Mobile Banking, you will need to set them up as a payee in Digital Banking using your card reader. Once they’re set up, though, you will be able to make payments using just your Mobile app.

Don’t have a card reader? Log in to Digital Banking and click ‘Security’ to order one.

Always have your account balance to hand

Open up the Mobile Banking app to check your current or savings account balance, as well as transfer money between accounts. You’ll also able to see recent transactions, and even search your statements back seven years.

If you use an Android, iPhone, BlackBerry 10, BlackBerry or Windows phone, you can view transactions from up to seven year ago on some accounts. 

On the iPad, you can see your last six transactions for all the accounts managed using Digital Banking.

The easy way for friends to send you money

Now you can use the Mobile Banking app to receive money from your friends – even if they’re customers of other banks.  

It’s a new service called Paym, and it lets your friends use their bank’s own mobile banking app to send money to your account, just using your mobile phone number.

Now it’s easy for friends to send you money – even if they’re a customer with a different bank.

All you need is Paym. It’s a service that’s available to customers of most of the UK’s leading banks and building societies.

How does it work?

To use Paym, you need to register using the latest version of the Mobile Banking app. Open the app and select Paym from the menu. You’ll find all the registration details there.

Paym is available on most personal accounts and the list of eligible accounts will show during the registration process. When registering you need to select the account in which you wish to receive payments.

After you’ve registered, your friends just need to use their bank’s own mobile app to send you money using Paym.

They don’t need to know your account number or sort code. All they need is your name and mobile phone number and they’ll be able to send money to your account.

You can now pay anyone with a valid UK Visa debit, credit or prepaid card using just their mobile number.

Pay Your Contacts

Paying money to anyone with a valid UK Visa debit, credit or prepaid card is simple – all you need is their mobile number and your Mobile Banking app. Open your Mobile app, click on the ‘Pay Your Contacts’ option, enter their mobile number, the amount you want to pay them and add a personal message.

If the person you’re paying is an RBS Mobile app user, they’ll receive a text and the money will be in their account instantly. 

It doesn’t matter if the person you’re paying doesn’t have the RBS Mobile app. They just need to have a valid UK Visa debit, credit or prepaid card and a UK mobile. We’ll send them a text message to let them know the money is waiting, and a link to click. Separately, you will have to let them know how much you've sent them. When they follow the link in the message, enter their Visa card number and the amount they’re expecting from you, we’ll deposit the money in their account within 48 hours.

Once we’ve notified your contact, they have seven days to collect a payment. And we’ll send you a text message when they’ve collected the payment and your balance has been debited.

Some important information

Pay Your Contacts lets you send money to someone aged 16 and over with a UK mobile number who has a RBS Mobile Banking app, or a valid UK Visa debit, credit or prepaid card. You must have available funds to send from your account (including any overdraft facility). There is a maximum payment of £250 a day, which is separate from daily withdrawal and Get Cash limits.

Pay Your Contacts is available for RBS customers on Android, iPhone, BlackBerry, BlackBerry10 and Windows.
