App available on most smartphones to Royal Bank of Scotland customers with Digital Banking and a UK mobile number

You don't need a card reader to quickly and conveniently pay bills or friends up to £250 with the mobile app  - you just need their account number and sort code.

You must be 16 and over and have the available funds in your account (including overdraft). There is a maximum of 5 payments totaling £250 per day, separate from Get Cash and daily withdrawals limits. The payee details will not be saved.

Split a taxi or go halves on dinner, with Pay Your Contacts you don't to need to swap bank details.

Choose a person from your Contact List or type a new number. You can pay anyone with a Royal Bank of Scotland, NatWest, Ulster Bank, NatWest Offshore or Isle of Man mobile app, or registered for Paym. The person will receive the money instantly.

 

Important information

 

  • You must have available funds to send from your account (including any overdraft facility).
  • There is a maximum payment of £250 a day, which is separate from daily withdrawal and Get Cash limits.

For security reasons, the first time you use a feature that allows money to leave your account with the mobile app, you will be asked to confirm a second activation code.

 

Simply follow the on screen instructions to have an activation code text to you. This code will go to the mobile number we hold for you on our records.

Send and receive money from customers of other banks using Paym

Paym is a service available to most of the UK’s leading banks and building societies that allows people to send money using just a mobile number.

You don't need to register to send money via the Paym service. Just select Pay Your Contacts and follow the steps.

 

You do need to register for Paym with us if you would other people of other banks to be able to send you money using your money number. To register, open the app and select Paym from the 'More' menu. You’ll find all the details there.

 

  • Paym is available on most personal accounts.
  • When registering you need to select the account in which you wish to receive payments.

After you’ve registered, your friends just need to use their bank’s own mobile app to send you money using Paym. They don’t need to know your account number or sort code. All they need is your name and mobile phone number and they’ll be able to send money to your account.

Forgot to pay the water bill? You can do it straight from your banking app

Our app contains a list of the most popular and frequently used utility, local authority and credit card companies.

Select 'Pay someone new' within the app where you will be able to select from a list of companies, add a reference and choose the amount. Once confirmed payments are normally received within 2 hours.

 

Important information

 

  • The payment details will not be saved.
  • You must be aged over 16 and have available funds to send from your account (including any overdraft facility).
  • Limits apply, the app will notify you of the limit once you have selected the company you wish to pay. 

It's just a few taps to pay someone from your list of saved payees

If you have paid a person via Digital Banking with your card reader their details will be saved in your banking app for quick access the next time you want to make a payment.

Just select 'Payments' and scroll through the names to select the correct person, type the amount and click send. The money will leave your account instantly.

 

Please note that to make payments to your saved payees within the mobile app you will need to make the first payment to that person through Digital Banking using your card reader.

Pay your credit card directly from the mobile app

Nobody likes paying bills, but when it comes to paying your Royal Bank of Scotland credit card we want to make it as easy as possible.

Paying your Royal Bank of Scotland credit card is simple with our mobile banking app.

 

  • Simply log in to your app 
  • Select your credit card from the list of accounts 
  • Select 'Pay credit card'
  • Choose to pay the minimum balance, the full statement balance or another amount of your choice
  • Check and confirm the payment details.

The payment will reach the requested account within 2 hours however it may take longer to appear on your credit card account. Find more help for credit cards in our Support Centre.

No need to stand in a branch queue to cancel your Direct Debit

Set up, view and cancel your standing orders and Direct Debits using your banking app. 

Open up the mobile app to set up standing orders to saved payees, companies or between your own accounts. You can view the status of your regular payments, check the details, keep an eye on the next payment date and cancel future payments.

 

  • To cancel a standing order from within the mobile app you must give two working days notice.
  • To cancel a Direct Debit from within the mobile app you have up until 8.20pm (UK time) on the day the payment is due. At or after 8.20pm (UK time), the payment due on that day will have been taken and we will not be able to retrieve it.

Withdraw money even if you have left your card at home

You can withdraw money at any Royal Bank of Scotland (in Scotland), NatWest or Tesco cash machine thanks to Get Cash.

With Get Cash you can quickly choose an amount of cash that you would like to withdraw from within the app. We will then provide you with a secure cash code that will be valid for 3 hours. You can use this cash code yourself or text it to someone else. You can use this service up to twice a day, but can only have one cash code at any one time. If the code expires, the funds will re-credit your account within 24 hours.

 

To use this service;

 

  • Maximum withdrawal limit of £130 every 24 hours. This must be within your daily withdrawal limit.
  • You must have at least £10 available funds to withdraw from your account (including any overdraft facility).
  • You must have an active debit card for your account.
