What the Post Office can do for you

We've increased the number of services available at thousands of Post Office® branchs across the UK.

As an Royal Bank of Scotland Customer, you can:

 

  • Get a balance using your debit card and PIN.
  • Withdraw cash using your debit card and PIN.
  • Pay in cash with a pre-printed paying-in slip.
  • Make cheques deposits with a pre-printed paying-in slip

What you need to know

  • Each Post Office® is subject to individual cut off timesPoint of time in which the banking transactions are collected from the Post Office®and the level of service may differ at each Post Office ®. Please check with the Post Office® you intend to use to find out more.
  • Cash paid in through the Post Office® will be added to an Royal Bank of Scotland account when we receive it from the Post Office®, which is usually within two working days. Please note sometimes it might take a little longer for cash to reach us from the Post Office®. 
  • Cheques paid in through the Post Office® will be added to a Royal Bank of Scotland account when we receive the cheques from the Post Office® which is usually within two working days. Please note sometimes it might take a little longer for cheques to reach us from the Post Office®. The cheques will follow the normal cheque clearing cycle once we have received them from the Post Office®. 
  • When using the Post Office® to pay in, cash and cheques cannot be mixed in the same transaction. Separate paying-in slips are required.
  • Personal customers will not be charged when transacting through the Post Office®.

Please note sometimes it might take a little longer for cash to reach us from the Post Office®.

Cheque pay in

  • Cheque to be paid in
  • Pre-printed paying-in slip
  • RBS branded Post Office® cheque deposit envelope(s) available at the Post Office® counter.Please note that cash and cheques cannot be mixed when carrying out a ‘Paying-in cheque(s) with slip’ transaction’. Separate paying-in slips are required.
  • You will need a pre-printed paying-in slip for every RBS branded Post Office® cheque deposit envelope used.
  • There are no limits to the number of cheques that can be deposited.
  • Multiple envelopes may be required depending on the size and/or number of cheques being paid in
  • Subject to Post Office ® branch cut off times, cheques paid in through the Post Office® will be added to an Royal Bank of Scotland account when we receive the cheques from the Post Office® which is usually within two working days. Please note sometimes it might take a little longer for cheques to reach us from the Post Office®.
  • The cheques will follow the normal cheque clearing cycle once we have received them from the Post Office®.
