Reward Black is available to all customers with a sole income of at least £100,000 paid into their Royal Bank of Scotland account, or minimum outstanding mortgage borrowings with us of £300,000, or savings and investments of at least £100,000 held with us. Reward accounts are not available to Royal Bank of Scotland customers in England and Wales. To keep earning Rewards on your household bills, you must log into online or mobile banking at least once every three months.

Travel Benefits

Worldwide Travel Insurance

Worldwide travel insurance that covers you and your family for trips up to 90 days including 31 days for winter sports. The policy also includes £10 million medical expenses cover. Underwritten by U K Insurance Limited.

What you should know:

  • Family cover includes you and your partner, plus any dependent children under age 18 at the start of the journey,  (under 23 if they’re in full-time education). Children must be living at the home address (or with the other parent), and be neither married or in a Civil Partnership
  • Your partner is the person you, the account holder, live with at the same home address in a relationship, whether married or cohabiting
  • To find out if you can extend your travel insurance to include cover for any new or existing medical conditions please visit our travel insurance website or call 0345 266 8801 (Minicom 0370 600 0856). You may have to pay extra for this or you may find that your condition cannot be covered. Lines are open: 8am-8pm Monday - Friday, 9am-5pm Saturday, 10am-5pm Sunday and 9am-5pm on bank holidays. We are closed Christmas Day, Boxing Day, New Years Day and Easter Sunday. Calls may be recorded.
  • If anyone covered by this policy is aged 70 or over, you must call us each year in order to obtain cover. You will need to pay an annual premium of £75 per person insured aged 70 or over and be medically screened.
  • If you have an existing medical condition, you may have to pay an additional premium or accept that your cover may exclude certain conditions.

Worldwide Airport Lounge Access

With Priority Pass™ you can have unlimited visits to over 1,000 VIP airport lounges around the world. You can also bring travel guests, for a payment of £15 each.

What you should know:

  • We'll automatically send you a membership card to Priority Pass™ in the post when you open or upgrade to a Reward Black Account
  • Make sure you visit the Priority Pass website before you travel
  • You will need your membership card to gain access to lounges. If you have a joint account and are travelling with the other account holder, both account holders will need to have their individual membership cards with them.

Airport lounges are owned and operated independently of Priority Pass. Admission is granted subject to capacity and at the discretion of the lounges.

Travel Money

Preferential rates on foreign currency from our Travel Money service – we’ll even deliver the money to your door.

What you should know:

  • Preferential exchange rate on foreign currency - minimum order of £100 applies
  • 0% Commission on all foreign currencies
  • Free delivery to your home or a branch of your choice within the UK
  • Payment from any UK credit or debit card

 

Protection Benefits

Mobile Phone Insurance

Your policy covers loss, theft, damage and breakdown (once your warranty has expired).  Underwritten by Aviva Insurance Limited.

What you should know:
 

  • Covers the phone used on a daily basis by you, your partner and/or your children under 18 years old who live at home with you (under 23 years old if they are still in full time education and living at home with you outside term time).  There is no cover for phones owned by your employer.
  • 4 successful claims can be made on this policy in any 12 month period.
  • Our replacement phones are refurbished handsets in ‘as new’ condition using genuine manufacturer parts.
  • There is a £100 excess for each successful claim.

UK & European Car Breakdown Cover

Our partners, Green Flag provide UK & European Car Breakdown cover which includes returning you and your vehicle to your home address in the UK and options to get you to your destination if your vehicle can’t be fixed (Underwritten by U K Insurance Limited).

What you should know:

  • Includes Homecall when your car won’t start at home
  • Roadside assistance, anywhere in the UK and Europe
  • For European trips outside the UK, cover only applies for vehicles less than 16 years old at the start of the trip
  • There is no vehicle age limit for UK journeys
  • Cover for vehicles you own that are kept and registered at your home address
  • Anyone driving or travelling in the vehicle owned by you is covered too
  • Limited to 5 callouts in any 12 months
  • Doesn't cover any repair costs once the insured vehicle has been transported to a garage or repairer.

Home emergency service

  • 24/7 home emergency cover up to £750 including VAT (Underwritten by U K Insurance Limited)
  • Cover for two homes – your main residence and any second home you own in the UK (excluding properties you rent out)
  • Approved repairers - finding someone you can count on can be a challenge, but we have taken care of that

Main exclusions:

  1. External water supply pipes
  2. Boilers over 10 years old, or with an output over 70kw
  3. Any emergency if your home has been unoccupied for more than 60 consecutive days
  4. Detached garages and outbuildings
  5. Homes in Northern Ireland, the Channel Islands, the Scilly Isles and the Isle of Man

It's important to remember that this is not a household buildings or contents insurance policy, or an equipment maintenance contract.

What you should know:

 

  • Order up to six tickets through the booking service for each event, up to four bookings a year
  • Tickets can be booked by phone or online via the membership services website
  • Cashback is calculated on the full price of the ticket including any booking fees

How do I get my cashback?

  • You don't need to do anything. It will be paid into your Reward Black Account within 30 days of your booking.

You must also be aged 18 or over and permanently resident in the UK.

 

To keep earning Rewards on your household bills, you must log into online or mobile banking at least once every three months.

Earn Rewards with Reward Black account

That’s 2% back on your council tax, gas, electricity, mobile, phone, TV and broadband. That means for every £100's of household bills you get £3 back.

Once you've earned Rewards, you can choose from three great ways to redeem them: change your Rewards into money, exchange Rewards for gift cards from retailers and change Rewards into money for charity.

Rewards explained

What are Rewards?

They're simple

You automatically earn Rewards on seven types of household bills paid by Direct Debit and on purchases at partner retailers. 5.00 in Rewards = £5.00.

 

They could grow quickly

There's no limit to the Rewards you can earn. Average earning of £83 in Rewards a year is based on paying bills of £345 a month and is before the Reward monthly account fee is paid.

 

They're easy to exchange

As soon as your available Rewards balance is the equivalent of £5 or more, you can convert your Rewards to money, which you can either transfer into your Royal Bank of Scotland current account or use towards reducing your Reward credit card balance.

 

Rewards can also be exchanged for gift cards or codes at selected retailers or converted to money and donated to participating charities.

How do I earn Rewards?

2% back in Rewards on seven household bills

You will earn Rewards on the following bills when you pay by Direct Debit from your Reward bank account; Council Tax, mobile, landline, TV package, gas, electricity and broadband.

 

Payments to billing organisations but which are for other services such as maintenance, repairs or insurance will not earn Rewards. 

 

At least 1% back in Rewards at partner retailers

After you've opened your account, you'll receive personalised retailer offers where you can earn extra Rewards when you use your Royal Bank of Scotland debit card. To view your personalised offers, exchange any Rewards and to check your Rewards balance, you will need to register on the MyRewards site.

How do I exchange Rewards?

As soon as your available Rewards balance is the equivalent of £5 or more, you can login to MyRewards to exchange them. To login you will need to register, using your debit card. You can then choose from the following.

 

Bank it

Convert your Rewards into money. You can then transfer the money into your Royal Bank of Scotland bank account or use towards reducing your Reward credit card balance. The funds will be cleared in your chosen account within 5 working days.

 

Trade up

Exchange your Rewards for gift cards or codes at our selected partner retailers.

 

Donate

Convert your Rewards into money, which can be donated to one of our chosen charities.
