Don’t know where it all goes? If you’re spending everything you earn each month and you don’t really know what you’re spending it on, try taking a closer look by keeping a spending diary. Write down everything you spend in a notebook for at least a month, even the smallest purchases. Or try using a spending tracker app (there are plenty of free ones) on your phone where you can make note of everything you’re spending. This will give you an accurate picture of what you’re spending your cash on.
Once you can see where your money is going, try setting yourself a budget using our budget calculator. Are there any areas where you can cut back? Take a look at the Money Advice Service’s cut-back calculator to see how small changes to your day-to-day spending could save you money in the long run. It all really does add up.
