The representative example is a handy wee tool that banks use to help you compare the cost of borrowing in one standard format.

purchase rate is the interest rate charged when buying most goods or services on a credit card. If you pay off the full card balance each month, you will not be charged interest on purchases.

The Representative APR is the annual percentage rate that’s used to indicate the full cost of borrowing from us. This includes any up-front fees spread over a year.

The assumed credit limit is a guide limit we need to quote when we’re explaining the typical costs within the representative example. We’ve used £1200 as a guide, like other lenders, but the actual credit limit you receive will depend on your circumstances.

The annual fee simply confirms the fee you’ll pay annually as part of your agreement with us. You’ll be charged this when you first use the card, and annually on the same date every year thereafter. Remember, we'll refund this fee for the Reward credit card if you have a Reward current account with us.

We treat all applications on an individual basis, so the APR you get is determined by your own circumstances and credit history. Most successful applicants will receive the Representative APR displayed.

Rewards

How do Rewards work?

When you pay using your Reward credit card, you’ll earn points known as Rewards. Some other credit card providers place a cap on the amount of points you can earn, but we don't.

How do Rewards work?

It's really simple: 5 Reward points equals £5 when redeemed. If you want to get a better idea of how many Rewards points you’ll earn, you can use our Rewards calculator.

Where to earn Rewards

You'll earn 1% in Rewards in supermarkets and 0.5% everywhere else. You'll also email you with personalised monthly spend offers from some of our selected retailers.

Where to earn Rewards

As well as 1% back at supermarkets, there's lots of places where you'll earn increased Rewards. Places like Forever 21, French Connection, National Express and Europcar. And from time to time, we'll email you to tell you about some personalised offers of up to 15% at selected retailers.

Things to remember

All Rewards offers are subject to the retailers’ terms, conditions and exclusions

How to use your Rewards

Once your balance has grown to at least a fiver, we'll give you a choice of what do with them. You can either bank them in cash, trade them for vouchers or or donate them to charity.

Features

Transferring a balance

Some helpful information if you're planning on transferring a balance to your new card.

Balance transfers

What is a balance transfer?

A balance transfer is when you move a credit card balance from one credit card provider to another. This type of offer could help reduce your monthly credit card payments and/or clear your debt quicker.

How it works

If your application is successful, we'll contact your existing card issuers. We'll then transfer across what you owe on your old card onto your new Reward credit card. You can transfer any amount, up to 95% of your available credit limit. The minimum balance transfer amount is £100. Please note, you cannot transfer a balance from another Royal Bank of Scotland Group credit card.

Things to remember

See our credit card range before you decide which of our credit cards is best to transfer a balance to.

From Jedburgh to John O'Groats, you can manage your credit card on the move with our app.

Things to remember

The app is available to digital banking customers with a UK or international mobile number in specific countries.

Apple Pay and Contactless

A couple of nice and easy ways to pay with using a Reward credit card.

Apple Pay and Contactless

Apple Pay is a really easy way to make a contactless payment. With all your card details are stored within an Apple device, it’s simply a case of touching your Apple device on the card reader and your payment is all done. Nice and easy.

And remember, our credit cards are all contactless enabled too. So you have a couple of easy options for making payments for items of £30 or less.

Spread the cost of your purchase

If you're buying something expensive and you don't want to use money from your bank account, a credit card might be a good way to spread the cost.

Spread the cost of your purchase

Like most UK credit cards, our range of cards offer 56 days interest free credit on purchases if you pay your balance (and your previous month's balance) in full and on time each month. That means if you want to make a big purchase, for example plane tickets or a new sofa, a credit card could be a good way to help you buy now and spread the cost.

About the annual fee and annual fee refund

You won't pay your annual fee if you have a Reward current account too.

Annual fee and refund

Usually, there is an annual fee with this credit card, but if you have one of our Reward current accounts there’s no card fee.

Things to remember

If you don’t have a Reward current account, we’ll charge a £24 annual fee when you first use your Reward credit card account (for example, by making a purchase or a balance transfer) and then each following year on the anniversary of that date.

Paying your credit card

There are lots of ways you can pay your credit card every month.

Paying your credit card

The most common way to pay is by Direct Debit. Once you’ve set it up, the payment will be taken automatically each month from your chosen bank account. You can choose to pay the minimum amount, a fixed amount or your full credit balance every month.

You can also make a payment in the mobile app or digital banking.

If you want to understand how quickly you could clear your balance, use our repayment calculator.

Repayment Calculator

Things to remember

If you set up a Direct Debit for the minimum or fixed amount, the payment is claimed 25 calendar days from the statement date, or shortly afterwards. If you set up a Direct Debit for the full credit card balance, the payment is claimed 15 calendar days from the statement date, or shortly afterwards.

Other charges or fees

Some important things you'll need to know about fees and charges.

Other charges or fees

Late paying

If you’re late paying, we’ll charge you a fee of £12. That’s why setting up a Direct Debit might be a good idea – it means you’ll never be late paying again.

We're all human, so if you do miss your payment due date by just one day, we won't charge you the late payment fee.

Over your limit

If you go over your agreed limit by more than £12, we’ll charge you a fee of £12. Using our mobile app or digital banking is a really good way to make sure this never happens.
