Send international payments with your mobile app

Great news! You can now use your mobile app to send international payments to payees that you have previously set up within Digital Banking.

Always on the move and short of time? Our app makes international payments quick and simple - with just a few taps you can select the payee, delivery speed and fee structure.

Transfer money between your accounts

Quickly send money between your own accounts using the mobile app.

Making a transfer

Transfering between your accounts is easy:

 

1. Simply log in and select the account you wish to make the transfer from

2. Select 'Make a transfer'

3. Choose what account you want to make the transfer too

4. Enter the amount you wish to transfer

5. Select to 'send now' or 'send later'

6. Click 'Make transfer' on iPhone or 'Next' on Android - You will then be shown a confirmation screen

 

Done.

 

Pay someone new up to £500 without a card reader

Need to pay a friend or tradesman? You can use your app to pay anyone up to £500 with just their account number and sort code. You don’t need a card reader or to have paid them before using Digital Banking.

If you need to pay someone - a friend or a tradesman for instance - you can now use your app to send them up to £500. All you need is their account number and sort code. You don’t need a card reader or to have paid them before through Digital Banking. Payments under £500 can be saved on the app and will also show in your Digital Banking for future use - When making the first payment in Digital Banking for over £500 a card-reader will be required.

 

To pay someone new, open the app, choose your current account then click ‘Payments’. On the next screen choose ‘Select payee’ then ‘Pay someone new’ and enter the details it asks for.

Important information

 

You must have available funds to send from your account (including any overdraft facility). Maximum of 5 payments totalling £500 per working day, which is separate from your daily withdrawal and Get Cash limits.

 

For security reasons, the first time you use a feature that allows money to leave your account with the mobile app, you will be asked to confirm a second activation code.

 

Pay Your Contacts

If you want to split a taxi fare or go halves on dinner, it’s easy with Pay Your Contacts. There’s no need to swap bank details or mess around with cards or cash – all you need is your app and your friend’s mobile number.

Firstly, open the app and tap on your current account. Then select ‘Pay Your Contacts’ and enter your friend’s mobile number or choose them from your contact list. Finally, add a reference and the amount.

 

You can use Pay Your Contacts to pay anyone with a Royal Bank of Scotland, NatWest, Ulster Bank, NatWest Offshore or Isle of Man mobile app, or who’s registered for Paym. They’ll receive the money straightaway. 

 

Once the payment is made you have the option to share a PDF payment confirmation via email, save to your Cloud/Phone or print directly from the app.

Register for Paym

Paym is a service available to most of the UK’s leading banks and building societies that allows people to send money using just a mobile number.

You don't need to register to send money via the Paym service. Just select Pay Your Contacts and follow the steps.

 

You do need to register for Paym with us if you would other people of other banks to be able to send you money using your money number. To register, open the app and select Paym from the 'More' menu. You’ll find all the details there.

 

  • Paym is available on most personal accounts
  • When registering you need to select the account in which you wish to receive payments

After you’ve registered, your friends just need to use their bank’s own mobile app to send you money using Paym. They don’t need to know your account number or sort code. All they need is your name and mobile phone number and they’ll be able to send money to your account.

Pay bills with your phone

No one likes paying bills, but at least when you pay them on your app they’re out of the way in seconds. 

Whether it’s a utility bill or a credit card, just choose the account you want to pay it from then select ‘Payments’. If you’ve paid them before, select them from the list. If not, tap ‘Pay someone new’ and type in the name of the organisation. The app will fill in the rest. Click ‘Continue’, then add your payment reference and the amount. 

 

Once the payment is made you have the option to share a PDF payment confirmation via email, save to your Cloud/Phone or print directly from the app.

 

Important Information

 

You must be aged over 16 and have available funds to send from your account (including any overdraft facility).  Limits apply, the app will notify you of the limit once you have selected the company you wish to pay.

 

For security reasons, the first time you use a feature that allows money to leave your account with the mobile app, you will be asked to confirm a second activation code. 

 

 

Pay someone from your list of saved payees

If you have paid a person via Digital Banking with your card reader their details will be saved in your banking app for quick access the next time you want to make a payment.

Just select 'Payments' and scroll through the names to select the correct person, type the amount and click send. The money will leave your account instantly.

 

Once the payment is made you have the option to share a PDF payment confirmation via email, save to your Cloud/Phone or print directly from the app.

 

No need to stand in a branch queue to cancel your Direct Debit

Set up, amend and cancel your standing orders and Direct Debits using your banking app. 

Open up the mobile app to set up standing orders to saved payees, companies or between your own accounts. You can view the status of your regular payments, check the details, keep an eye on the next payment date and cancel future payments.

 

  • To amend or cancel a standing order from within the mobile app you must give two working days notice
  • To cancel a Direct Debit from within the mobile app you have up until 8.20pm (UK time) on the day the payment is due. At or after 8.20pm (UK time), the payment due on that day will have been taken and we will not be able to retrieve it

Set up or cancel a standing order

No need to visit a branch to set up your standing orders, it's just a few steps on your app.

If you’d like to see the standing orders you’ve got set up, choose the account they come out of and press ‘Standing Orders’. You’ll see them all listed. Then, if you’d like to cancel one, click on it and tap the ‘Cancel’ button at the bottom. To set a new one up, press the ‘create’ button.

Important Information

 

To cancel a standing order from within the mobile app you must give two working days’ notice. 

 

Withdraw cash without a card

If you ever dash out without your debit card, you can still withdraw cash thanks to ‘Get Cash’. 

To use this service, just open up your app, click on ‘Get Cash’ at the bottom of the screen, and select how much you’d like to withdraw (up to £130). Click ‘next’, and we’ll send you a secure code to enter at any NatWest, Royal Bank (in Scotland) or Tesco cash machine.

 

You can use Get Cash twice every 24 hours, but can only have one cash code at any one time. If your code expires, don’t worry, the funds will go back into your account within 24 hours.

Set up payments or transfers to leave on a future date

Need to make a payment next week, next month but worried you will forget to send it? Set it up now to leave on a specific date in the future.

Setting up a payment or transfer to leave on a specific future date is easy and can be done through the mobile app. Simply follow these steps:

 

  • Select the account you want the money to leave from
  • Select the account you want to transfer your money to or enter the payment details of the person you wish to pay
  • Select 'Send later' and enter the date you would like the transfer or payment to be made
  • Touch 'Schedule payment' and that's the payment or transfer set up and good to go

Note that payments and transfer can not be scheduled to leave more than 120 days in the future.
